President – Jeff Flesher, PhD
Jeff Flesher is the architect of the Paradoxical Inquiry method and Managing Paradox workshops. He is a partner in The Paradox Team and owner of Wisdom Mates, LLC. Previously he held senior positions in corporate organization effectiveness and learning including Vice President and Head of UL University, Vice President Talent Management at Biomet, Inc., Director of Learning and Organizational Development at Abbott Laboratories, and Learning Services Superintendent at Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Generation Group.
Jeff completed a Ph.D., with an emphasis in problem solving and the development of expertise. He has taught for more than 25 years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Colleges of Business and Education, and on military bases around the US for the Department of Workforce Education and Development, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
He is active in the submarine community and currently serves as the President of the Nautilus Chapter of the Naval Submarine League. Jeff is a submarine veteran and author of Leadership from Below, Paradoxes of Submarine Leadership.
Treasurer – Eric Jones
Eric Jones retired from the Navy as a Commander following 31 years of service. His last job was Repair Officer at the Naval Submarine Support Facility in New London, CT. He is currently working at General Dynamics – Electric Boat Corporation as a Program Supervisor in the Life Cycle Engineering Department.
Joining the Navy in 1965, he become a nuclear Machinist Mate. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 1974 while serving on the submarine USS Sam Rayburn. His shore duty tour at Submarine School was shortened when he was selected for Limited Duty Officer. After a four year tour in Holy Loch, Scotland repairing submarines, he returned to college and earned his Bachelor’s degree.
Following graduation, he was assigned as the SRA Superintendent in New London. From there he was accepted into the Engineering Duty Officer program, and sent back to school to get his masters degree. Following graduation from MIT in 1987, he attended the Submarine Officer’s Basic Course. After a patrol on USS Alabama he was assigned to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he served as a Senior Ship Superintendent, Ship’s Safety Officer, Assistant Repair Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. Following this tour, he was assigned as the Repair Officer for the Naval Submarine Support Facility.
Vice President – Tom Olson
Thomas F. Olson is a native of Libertyville, Illinois, and a 1973 graduate of Bradley University in Mechanical Design. He also holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Masters in Business Administration Degree from Marymount University.
After being commissioned from the Naval Officer Candidate School in May 1974, he completed Nuclear Propulsion Training, and served onboard submarines USS W.H. Bates (SSN 680), USS R.E. Lee (SSBN 601B) and USS C. Pulaski (SSBN688G) from 1975 to 1984. Subsequently designated as an Engineering Duty Officer, he was assigned responsibilities supervising new construction submarines before retiring with the rank of Captain. In 1997 he assumed a Program Manager position with CACI, Inc., and in 2001 he returned to government service with the Navy as the civilian Ohio Replacement Project Director at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Groton where he currently serves.
Tom Olson is married to the former Marie Goe of Stanfordville, New York. They have two grown children: Gavin and Darin, and reside in Noank, Connecticut. He serves as the Vice President of the Nautilus Chapter of the Naval Submarine League, Trustee of the L.Y. Spear Foundation and is active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Secretary – Greg Mooradian
Greg Mooradian is originally from Olean, NY. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on a Naval ROTC scholarship, and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer System Engineering. Following commissioning, Greg served as a division officer onboard the USS Miami from 2004 until 2007. In June of 2007, Greg served as Lead Officer Instructor for Advanced Officer Training for Submarine Navigation, Operations, Communications, and Dive Systems at Naval Submarine School in Submarine Base New London. Greg served at Submarine School until separating from the Navy in September in 2009. In October of 2009, Greg joined the Naval Submarine League and began serving as Secretary of the Nautilus Chapter.
Greg is married to his wife, Amy, and has two daughters. His interests include the Boston Sports, cinema, and visiting Walt Disney World.
